Year-by-year participation

Returning share is the share of this year’s people seen in any earlier year. Retention is the share of the previous calendar year’s people who reappeared this year. The first archived year has no retention rate. No archived results is shown as N/A, not zero.

Comebacks in

A comeback means an appearance after at least one calendar year without a recorded result in the selected scope. Gaps describe the archive; they do not prove someone missed a race. The focus year above controls this list, independently of the chart range.

All participation includes published challenge, virtual and children’s results. Distance scopes use only the published overall 5K/10K rows. The 10K is archived in 2010 and 2012–2015; other years have no archived 10K data. Rates compare the recorded people, not registered entrants. Changing scope recalculates each person’s first appearance and return history across the entire archive.
