Find a runner

A year counts once even if a runner has multiple results that year. Matching uses first/last spelling and age progression, ignoring case and middle names. Large age gaps are split into separate individuals. Cities are never used.

How names, ages, and participation counts are matched

What the number means

The count is the number of distinct calendar years with a published result assigned to that individual, within the selected event types. A year is counted once even if there are multiple events. The combined spelling audit can include multiple individuals and is not an individual participation total. “Ran in” selects runners with an appearance in that year while keeping their full history in the count.

All events includes 5K and 10K results, the published 2014 children’s mile, the 2020 challenge’s 96 participant rows, and the 2023 virtual result. Awards rows supplement ages and never add another participation. Anonymous, unknown, and single-name entries (105 finishers) are excluded from cross-year name matching.

Spelling comes first

First and last spelling are matched without case differences, extra spaces, or periods around initials. Curly and straight apostrophes and standard hyphen styles are equivalent. Middle names and trailing Jr., Sr., and similar suffixes are ignored; common surname particles such as “Di” and “Van” stay with the surname. Initials remain initials. Nicknames, misspellings, truncated names, and changed surnames are not automatically merged. An initial such as “J.” is not expanded to “John.” City, finish time, and gender are not used to decide identity.

Incompatible age progressions mean separate individuals

Exact ages appear in 4,772 finishers. Other years often supply only an age-group range, which is marked as a group in the details. The 2022 awards PDF supplies 76 exact ages; these enrich existing finishers. A 0–0 division is treated as an unknown age.

Ages and race years define approximate birth-year ranges. The comparison allows for birthdays and a small one-year discrepancy between those ranges. Records with clearly incompatible ranges are treated as separate individuals. Directly overlapping birth-year ranges are preferred; the small discrepancy allowance is used only if there is no direct match. If a result fits more than one existing individual, it is assigned to the closest compatible known race-year history. Age-group midpoint and the amount of known history break ties; an exact tie uses stable profile order. These assignments are marked as estimated in the person’s details. Estimated assignments are never used as evidence for assigning another record. Small inconsistencies, initials, and duplicate same-event names are also flagged. A published age error can create a false split, and different people of similar age can still look alike. These are individual profiles inferred from the published data under the requested rule; they are not independently verified identities.
